Following a thorough Ofsted inspection and a highly positive report, Edgbaston College is now officially registered as an independent school.
The report, which stems from a statutory pre-registration inspection conducted in October 2022, outlines findings based on compliance with required standards across various areas, including quality of leadership and management, spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development of students, and premises and accommodation.
During their visit, inspectors noted, "The proprietor body understands the independent school standards. The actions taken to date demonstrate that it has the skills and knowledge to meet the independent school standards consistently." They added, "The proprietor body has a clear vision of what it wants the school to be. This underpins the application to register as an independent school."
Owais Ahmed, Principal, expressed his satisfaction: “Edgbaston College is about providing education with a purpose. We aim to help students fulfil their ambitions, whether that be securing a competitive apprenticeship or getting into Oxbridge. I am incredibly pleased that this has been recognised by Ofsted."
Moving forward, the College plans to expand its course offerings beyond A-Level programmes by introducing a One-Year GCSE programme.
Owais continued: "From the very outset, we have been absolutely clear on our vision for the College. The many positive comments we received as part of the pre-registration inspection are a testament to the efforts of everyone involved in making this vision a reality. Our thanks go to all of our staff who have worked tirelessly to provide such an exceptional provision for our students."
David Williams, Vice-Principal, added, "The College has exceptionally experienced staff. Four of our teachers were Principal/Head at their previous school and one was Head of Sixth Form. We believe our clear vision and wealth of expertise will help our students excel academically and beyond."
