Edgbaston College

Admissions Requirements

Rather than relying on a fixed grade threshold, we consider every application individually. We look at each student’s starting point, ambitions, potential and readiness to improve, with the aim of understanding whether our teaching, assessment and guidance can help them make meaningful academic progress and strengthen their future options.

What We Look For

When considering an application, we look for:

Students with the ambition to improve and a genuine desire to make meaningful progress.

Students whose potential may extend beyond what their previous results alone suggest.

Students who are ready to work consistently, respond to feedback and take an active role in their learning.

How to Apply

Application Process

Applications are considered on a rolling basis, subject to availability. You do not need to know exactly which programme is right before getting in touch; we are happy to talk through the options.

A Guide to Entry

Admissions Requirements

We do not apply a single academic threshold to every applicant. Previous results help us understand a student’s starting point, but we also consider their ambitions, chosen subjects and readiness to improve. If you are unsure, we encourage you to speak with us.

A-Level (Two-Year / Five-Term / Year 13 Entry)

  • We consider each student’s previous study, intended subjects and readiness for A-Level work. No single GCSE average determines admission.
  • Some subjects build closely on prior knowledge. We discuss this openly and consider whether the student has the foundations and commitment to progress.

One Year A-Level

  • We welcome students from a wide range of academic starting points. Previous grades help us understand what needs to change rather than defining what a student can achieve.
  • We look for the potential and determination to improve, alongside an ambition to strengthen university or career opportunities.
