Social Distancing at Edgbaston College
The situation over the past few months has been difficult for many and has interrupted many important parts of students’ education across the nation. Edgbaston College is a small independent Sixth Form College, which is an advantage during this time, as we can transition into social distancing regulations with ease. As our college reopens and we shift from online back into in-person lessons, we continue to aim to deliver the highest quality education despite the circumstances. We want to keep our students on track for success in their exams and university applications.
At Edgbaston College, the health and safety of our students and staff is of paramount importance. We have been studying the national situation as it has evolved and are strictly following the government’s guidance for schools and colleges.
We are creating safe learning environments within the College. We teach in small group sizes, with students’ classes organised into parallel groups, and we encourage the students to limit contact between the different groups. Furthermore, classrooms are arranged to follow social distancing regulations. We have also established an enhanced level of cleaning of the College premises, and encourage hand hygiene at all times with regular hand sanitiser available. Together, this will ensure we reduce contacts and maximise distance between our students to minimise any potential spread.
Test and Trace
At Edgbaston College we take all NHS regulations against coronavirus seriously. Should there be any positive COVID-19 case we are fully prepared to handle the situation. If any student finds they have coronavirus (COVID-19) symptoms, or who have someone in their household who does, they will not be able to attend in-College lessons until a negative COVID-19 test has been received. If a test result is positive, we will be engaging in the NHS Test and Trace service within their respective allocated groups in the College. However, we will be offering online tuition and be continuing students’ homework and assessments, if they find themselves isolating at any time. This ensures that that we can continue delivering high quality education whilst managing any spread and keep our students safe.
