One Year A-Level Courses

Complete a full A-Level in one year.

Yes, you can complete your A-Levels in a single year at Edgbaston College. Whether you’re retaking to lift your grades, taking up a brand-new subject, transferring after Year 12 or accelerating to university, our intensive one-year programme covers the complete A-Level in twelve months, in small classes on our Birmingham campus.

Can you really do an A-Level in one year? Yes. An A-Level is the same qualification whether you take it over one year or two, and universities treat it exactly the same. The difference is intensity: we timetable significantly more teaching hours per subject than a standard two-year course, so the full specification is covered in depth and never rushed. With small classes and relentless exam practice, our students complete the course in a year and progress to top universities.

Students accelerating their studies – adding a fourth subject, or aiming to reach university a year early.

How the one-year course works

One year to learn a complete A-Level and sit it with confidence.

Choose your subjects – take one to three A-Levels in a year, retake, or add a brand-new subject.
Learn the complete course – the full A-Level specification, taught from the ground up (or re-taught) at pace in small classes.
Constant assessment & feedback – weekly timed assessments and three full mock exams, each with feedback and a parent report.

See the full list of subjects available here.

Why students succeed in one year

A complete A-Level in one year

The whole specification, covered in depth with more teaching hours per subject than a standard two-year timetable.

Genuinely small classes

A maximum of 10 students per class (typically 7), so every teacher knows every student.

Frequent exam practice & feedback

Weekly assessments under exam conditions and three mock exams, each with individual feedback.

Expert subject teaching

Specialist teachers who know exactly what an A-Level examiner is looking for in every topic.

Full UCAS & applications support

Personalised guidance from Principal Owais Ahmed, who personally oversees every application.

Focused exam technique

Targeted exam technique and timing coaching that turn a year of learning into marks under pressure.

Is a one-year A-Level right for you?

A one year course is intensive, and the right starting point matters. Some subjects, especially the sciences, are most achievable in a year when you have relevant GCSEs or some prior study behind you. At your one-to-one consultation with the Principal, we’ll check the subject and your starting point are right, so you’re set up to succeed rather than stretched too thin.
